Thus far, the best way to record video seems to be directly into quicktime X (I have also used QT7 pro but I get different results than X). But I do record video and that was my main attraction to this cam. I haven't tried skype yet and rarely use it.

Some people are successful using this cam with some software such as photobooth, imovie, skype, etc. $8Ĭurrently, I am also researching this and this is what I have found: If that doesn't work, the app, "Webcam Settings" from the app store (formerly "Mactaris" I think) will control a number of the features on the cam. Its for another cam I think, but some people have had success controlling the c920.

Logitech does offer a free peice of software in the app store for free.

Scan the web and you will find that the c920, while an awesome piece of hardware, lacks software to make use of it for the mac and many people mystified as to why it won't work as they expect and very little that you can do to control features that are available on the windows side. Flip the arm over and enlarge the drill hole using the 5/16” drill bit in order to make a through hole in the arm.Yes, plug it in and it will work, sort of. Replace the plastic cover which you removed earlier and secure with the 3 small Phillips screw removed earlier. You will use this screw hole as a pilot hole to guide your drill.Ĭarefully drill a 7/32″ hole through the weight and out the plastic cover on the other side of the arm. Remove this screw but leave the weight within the arm. The metal weight is attached to the arm with one Phillips screw through its center. This will allow you to remove one half of the plastic covering the arm and reveal a metal weight within the arm. Remove the 3 small Phillips screws from the rectangular arm on the webcam 9000 (one of the screws is under the rubber pad glued to the arm). Following are the instructions ġ “10×1/4″ T-nut (most hardware stores will have them). If anyone is interested all you need to achieve this is a precision screwdriver set and a drill press. I use Logitech webcam 9000’s which I retrofit for tripod mounting for photo ID systems which I build.

You can even see the difference in lighting/quality in these unretouched/unadjusted screen grabs. This way I can put the camera where ever I want. However, the Logitech C920 is mounted on a tripod right in front of my desk and is aimed straight on. I’m sitting at my desk and the FaceTime HD camera is tilted up so that I can see my screen. You can immediately see the advantage of being able to mount the camera where you want in the sample above. Also at long last it has a standard tripod mount in the base! Woohoo!

The video quality is crystal clear and smooth. Hands down the NEW Logitech C920 has to be the best if not one of the best webcams for the money.

However, when I’m in studio or at home I prefer the higher quality of the C…… oh wait, they have a new one…. I usually mount it to a Gorillapod and life is good. I did ultimately get a C615 and I use it on the road because it’s so small. Logitech seemed to be stuck on this being the only option for the majority of their cameras. however, for my video recording/podcasting needs I want to be able to mount the camera higher than the top of my laptop. “Hey Terry! Why do you even need a webcam since your MacBook Pro has an HD FaceTime camera built-in?” The FaceTime HD camera that is built-in to my MacBook Pro is fine for video chat, Skype, FaceTime, etc. While readers did point out that the C615 does in fact have one, my webcam of choice was the C910, which did not have one. In October 2011 I posted a rant asking Logitech to add a tripod mount to their webcams.
